Intrinsically safe (IS) devices are engineered so that, even under fault conditions, the electrical energy released cannot ignite a surrounding explosive atmosphere. That makes correct zone and gas-group certification the single most important spec to check.
Zone 1 sites (where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur during normal operation) require a higher certification threshold than Zone 2 sites (where it's only likely under abnormal conditions) — always confirm the exact zone, gas group and temperature class for your site before selecting a device.
Beyond certification, consider battery run-time across a full shift, sunlight-readability of the display for outdoor use, and whether your workflows need barcode/RFID scanning or just voice and data.
Our team supplies the Polaris N58EX, N60EX and N63EX — ATEX-certified, IP68, no-camera/no-GPS handsets — along with optional desktop chargers. Talk to us about your site's hazardous area classification.
